Cut Gasket Coatings: Enhancing Conventional Gasket Sealing

This added layer will help lower-quality or rigid gaskets seal more effectively and maintain performance over time. It also fills minor surface imperfections and provides light adhesion to hold the gasket in place during assembly.

In the past, gasket makers were often applied to cut gaskets as a supplemental sealer. However, with advancements in RTV gasket maker formulations and evolving OEM installation practices, this approach is no longer recommended and can compromise sealing reliability.

Best Practice

Use Cut Gasket Coating when installing a traditional cut gasket that would benefit from enhanced sealing or retention.
Use RTV gasket maker when replacing the cut gasket entirely.
Do not combine RTV gasket maker with cut gaskets.
